[11:00] nick: ok that was weird
[11:00] winspire: weird happens.
[11:00] vibrant: I thought my PC went bonkers!!
[11:00] nick: ok so let's get started
[11:01] guest-258 changed nickname to rockychamps
[11:01] vibrant: can i start nick??
[11:01] nick: Thanks for joining our morning session Workshop.
[11:01] vibrant: our pleasure
[11:02] nick: The way this works is we take questions one at a time. First we'll start with one person and then so on.
[11:02] vibrant: ok
[11:02] nick: We also have some generic questions we'll answer on our end at the end.
[11:02] nick: Ok Vibrant we'll start with you. Ask away.
[11:02] vibrant: i have a q about adsense....
[11:03] vibrant: adsense applications of users in india are rejected by google
[11:03] guest-515 entered the room
[11:03] vibrant: saying " xomba does not belong to you"
[11:04] vibrant: when wwe enter our username link; it says we should submit main domain name like www.xomba.com
[11:04] guest-515 changed nickname to saffireyin
[11:04] vibrant: when we do that, it rejects application saying we donot own xomba
[11:04] baldwin: Unfortunately we cannot control who Google approves and does not approve. Other than resubmitting your application there isn't anything else we can do.
[11:05] vibrant: i ask this Q mainly for new users joining xomba. Many of my pals want to join xomba from here in indiaa. But adsense application is tough from here.
[11:05] nick: Yeah, we don't understand it either.
[11:05] guest-637 entered the room
[11:06] baldwin: It seems that they are especially strict on foreign applications.
[11:06] guest-637 changed nickname to darrellcurts
[11:06] vibrant: i know of so many frins who wanted to join xomba but did not - coz of google adsense rejection
[11:07] nick: well... they can create a blogger account
[11:07] nick: and then use that for adsense
[11:07] nick: so then they get approved by adsense and link it in Xomba
[11:07] nick: ok next question
[11:07] nick: rockychamps you are up next
[11:08] saffireyin: Oh yea, I heard that if you use a blogger link when registering, adsense tends to approve more
[11:08] vibrant: How many afffliate links are permitted on blurbs/bytes
[11:08] nick: blogger is owned by Google.
[11:08] nick: hold your question vibrant. one per user then we will get back to you
[11:09] vibrant: ok nick,
[11:09] nick: Rockychamps do you have a question?
[11:09] nick: thnaks
[11:09] nick: ok, moving on.
[11:09] nick: Winspire do you have a question?
[11:10] winspire: I mostly came to listenand learn.
[11:10] rockychamps: one of my friend account is blocked the xomba account we ask our question to the xomba no body is giving the answer
[11:10] nick: ok no problem :)
[11:10] nick: unfortunately if there is no answer it means they are permanently banned
[11:10] nick: please email us your concern
[11:11] nick: ok saffireyin do you have a question
[11:11] rockychamps: but you have to give the reason to him why his account blocked
[11:11] saffireyin: not really, I just woke up and just wanted to watch and learn lol. But I'm wondering how finding a new programmer is going?
[11:12] nick: :) it's going
[11:12] nick: we have some decent resumes and are hopefully interviewing soon
[11:12] saffireyin: that's great =D
[11:12] winspire: You mentioned linking one thing (like Blogger) to another . If we did something like that, we would just use our original one submission to adsense and then somehw like it to other things?
[11:13] nick: We have some generic questions we'll be answering at the end
[11:13] nick: yes, if you get an adsense account through blogger or any site you can use the pub number to link it with Xomba
[11:14] nick: Darrell has been on Xomba forever. He could actually run his own Xomba workshop.
[11:14] nick: But do you have a question?
[11:14] darrellcurts: same 'ole question from me - I find it hard (really hard) making $ with fiction - suggestions? I done all the adv and expert stuff
[11:14] vibrant: can i answer for darrel??
[11:15] nick: maybe amazon affiliates... but honestly... you need to get published.
[11:15] darrellcurts: ah.....dreams
[11:15] nick: the more fiction you post on Xomba the more followers you can get and that can come in handy when finding a publisher
[11:16] nick: I 've got some ideas brewing over fiction.
[11:16] nick: in terms of using it with Xomba
[11:16] nick: I'm sure we'll have another fiction contest.
[11:16] saffireyin: ooh I'd love that
[11:16] nick: I want to feature our fiction better, but I don't know how to make it money. Unless we can get sponsors
[11:17] nick: but then you would need thousands of reads to make it worth it.
[11:17] vibrant: Darrel, i suppose making $ is a function of the click thru rates which is directly dependent on traffic
[11:17] vibrant: ...and higher click thru is achived if the ads are relevant
[11:17] nick: ads on fiction don't really match. And google will most likely put up PSAs
[11:17] darrellcurts: yes it is and fiction ads are not the best google can give
[11:18] vibrant: and as u can guess fiction ads are less relevant to content
[11:18] darrellcurts: very low $ per click
[11:18] nick: ok
[11:18] nick: so back to you vibrant
[11:18] vibrant: thanks...
[11:18] vibrant: nick if u permit will try n roll 2 questions in 1
[11:18] guest-1318 entered the room
[11:19] guest-1318 changed nickname to kidgas
[11:19] nick: ok
[11:19] nick: shoot
[11:19] vibrant: how many affliate links are aloowed on bytes/blurbs.....and plz tell us how we can use twitter / facebook for our advantage
[11:20] nick: well the make money guide offers strategies for twitter and facebook
[11:20] nick: let me answer your affiliate link
[11:21] nick: 2 affiliates is about right. But make sure your affiliates aren't scams
[11:21] vibrant: like what?
[11:21] vibrant: amazon/ ebay/ clickbank are ok?
[11:22] baldwin: It's ok to post a link to buy a movie from amazon but not some make money from home get rich quick scheme.
[11:22] nick: amazon affiliates is a good way to make a little extra money. It's free and worth the test.
[11:22] vibrant: i get that nick & jeremy
[11:22] nick: scammy ebooks are also frowned upon. You know those guys saying they made 2 million dollars in their underwear. Those are scammy
[11:23] vibrant: got that.
[11:23] nick: if someone finds a way to be rich on the internet then they don't sell that info for 20 bucks
[11:23] vibrant: hahaha...nicely said
[11:23] nick: you know those big checks they hold up? yeah, it's called photoshop.
[11:24] vibrant: your so funny nick!!
[11:24] nick: hi kidgas... do you have question for us?
[11:24] vibrant: :-)
[11:24] rockychamps: some time at the post of article show capcha and can we post online movie/sports live stremming
[11:24] kidgas: no questions, but I have found some of those checks with the same check number
[11:24] kidgas: some can't even do photoshop right
[11:24] vibrant: Universal Checks!!
[11:25] vibrant: Re-usable checks....:-)
[11:25] kristen: Rockychamps...the capcha is the way to show that the person is a human and not a bot
[11:26] kristen: As for live streaming...you are allowed one a day. There is definitely no streaming of movies unless they are from Hulu or Youtube
[11:26] kidgas: i think it is a nice touch, but why does the capcha show up sometimes but not always
[11:26] nick: ok here's the deal
[11:26] nick: it's inteeligent
[11:27] nick: intelligent*
[11:27] nick: so it trys to figure out if you are a bot or a human. Plus, if you post bad stuff it can block you forever. Don't worry about that though.
[11:28] kidgas: i will now that you said not to
[11:28] kidgas: bad stuff as in lousy, or porn and violence
[11:29] rockychamps: new xomba the click are very less as compare to old xomba I think old one is better working than new
[11:29] nick: yeah, I really wouldn't worry about it. We had to get it because we had someone spamming us for about 1000 articlees a day.
[11:29] baldwin: rockychamps, we have found that most people are earning far from the new site than the old site
[11:29] baldwin: *far more
[11:30] kidgas: makes sense...i never worked with the old xomba so i have no comparison
[11:30] nick: we do not punish "bad" writers based on quality as long as you can write in english
[11:30] nick: new xomba just looks different
[11:30] nick: ok anyone else with a question?
[11:30] vibrant: i am a bit curious about the adsense sharing timing between xomba & user- How is that done? i mean is it a 12 hr split between Xomba & user? If that is the case then it can be a littel hard on one party if the byte is event specific; like say a superbowl game or a soccer game.
[11:31] guest-1715 entered the room
[11:31] baldwin: its not by time, it is random for each pageview
[11:31] vibrant: just curious, i hope no offence is taken
[11:31] kidgas: and what is the split?
[11:31] baldwin: the split is 50/50
[11:31] guest-1715 changed nickname to katlouise
[11:31] kidgas: what about the in text ads?
[11:31] kristen: Welcome Katlouise! Do you have any questions for us?
[11:31] vibrant: you mean one pageview is xomba and another is users?
[11:32] nick: @vibrant it is random 50/50
[11:32] baldwin: the intext ads are from a different ad network, those ads are not shared
[11:32] vibrant: good
[11:32] kidgas: that was my impression
[11:32] guest-1756 entered the room
[11:33] nick: anyone else with a question?
[11:33] guest-1765 entered the room
[11:33] guest-1765 changed nickname to vibrant
[11:33] vibrant: i got lost again
[11:33] kristen: Katlouise...will you please respond through text..not a microphone
[11:34] kidgas: can you give a rough estimate on average earnings based upon site activity?
[11:34] nick: well
[11:35] nick: I think after 3 months a good goal is earning $75 to $100 month
[11:35] nick: if you are trying to make money
[11:35] vibrant: while on this - how much can one article earn on xomba
[11:36] vibrant: i mean has there been any articles that have earned say 5 $ every day
[11:36] baldwin: there is no limit to how much you can earn from one article
[11:36] vibrant: single article
[11:36] baldwin: yes
[11:36] nick: the make money guide lays out a sound strategy on earnings
[11:36] vibrant: whats the upper limit that has been reached out on xomba
[11:36] nick: 3-4 grand month
[11:36] nick: for one user
[11:36] kidgas: i will have to read the guide again
[11:37] nick: but!
[11:37] vibrant: yes?
[11:37] nick: A solid goal is 300-400 a month
[11:37] nick: Darrell had an article make like 200 in a day I believe
[11:37] vibrant: its good to know the records (for earnings) at xomba - this can be inspirational for some
[11:37] vibrant: Woaaaa
[11:38] vibrant: 200 a day? every day??
[11:38] kidgas: does that become residual or do you have to be constantly active? is darrel wdzzz
[11:38] nick: no just in one day
[11:38] nick: yes he is
[11:38] nick: oh wait
[11:38] nick: no wdzzz is not darrell
[11:38] vibrant: i hear rawnak made about 400 in 1 day
[11:38] nick: It is all in the title
[11:38] nick: but Xomba is not a get rich scheme
[11:39] nick: Rawnak does well on Xomba yes
[11:39] kidgas: there are no schemes
[11:39] vibrant: there must be more users that do well on xomba
[11:39] nick: of course
[11:40] darrellcurts: dedom, chris crow
[11:40] vibrant: can we have their names only?
[11:40] nick: I don't have them, we do not see earnings of users. Only our own.
[11:40] darrellcurts: taprial
[11:40] vibrant: hmmmm
[11:40] vibrant: i see yahooo has huge nos of reads too
[11:41] nick: ok back to questions
[11:41] nick: we'll touch on the making money thing a little at the end
[11:41] vibrant: right sir
[11:42] saffireyin: one question
[11:42] nick: yes
[11:42] saffireyin: Will you guys add more specifics to categories in the future?
[11:43] nick: What do you mean "specifics"?
[11:43] saffireyin: Like for fiction, will you guys add the genres like fantasy/sci fi/etc to make it easier for people to find what they exactly like?
[11:44] darrellcurts: just read darrell curts - all his stuff is great
[11:44] darrellcurts: :)
[11:44] nick: Oh ok...
[11:44] saffireyin: lol I might since I like fiction
[11:44] nick: Well we do have tags
[11:45] nick: and we have a secret project involving them :)
[11:45] darrellcurts: any thought to making google trends/keywords part of the front page?
[11:45] nick: we will not be creating new categories
[11:45] nick: yes...
[11:45] nick: we've giving thought to it
[11:46] nick: given*
[11:46] vibrant: There was a plan for some "Badges"
[11:46] nick: about fiction... I recommend adding the tag fantasy genre
[11:46] vibrant: most posts/ most voted etc
[11:46] nick: Oh yes the badges
[11:46] nick: it's coming
[11:47] vibrant: great!
[11:47] nick: They will be like achievements
[11:47] vibrant: ANy idea about the p;d reads?
[11:47] saffireyin: Yea, I know we can use tags. Just that sometimes I'm in the mood to read something random from a particular genre and I know not everyone tags it
[11:47] vibrant: old reads
[11:47] nick: and they tie in to user points... and we have a plan for rewards with badges/userpoints
[11:48] nick: old reads will be back
[11:48] vibrant: I have one Q - when we migrated from old Xomba to nere ones, the older posts no longer show on google search. They seem unindexed sort of...
[11:48] nick: yes saffireyin we'd love to hear your ideas, but we are working on super tags. That's all I can say now.
[11:49] nick: no, they are indexed.
[11:49] vibrant: ok, nick, will chekc on that
[11:49] saffireyin: hehe ok
[11:49] baldwin: trust us, we would know if all of the old stuff fell out of the index
[11:49] vibrant: no i did not mean that jeremy.
[11:49] baldwin: sometimes google moves things around though so you won't have the same ranking all the time
[11:50] vibrant: maybe my brower or net was sluggish the day i checked
[11:50] nick: ok any more questions? we have a list of Frequently Asked ones will be sharing
[11:51] darrellcurts: how about the stumbleupon, reddit, etc links we used to have for our posts?
[11:51] vibrant: maybe things will be fine when old reads are back
[11:51] guest-2355 entered the room
[11:51] nick: yeah, Darrell we need to get those up.
[11:51] nick: see message..... hiring programmer
[11:52] saffireyin: lol
[11:52] nick: just joking... we have it on our list
[11:52] guest-2355 changed nickname to josephehoward
[11:52] nick: anything else?
[11:52] saffireyin: along with an easier way to post up videos? xD
[11:53] nick: Actually, spell check, word count, videos are coming...
[11:53] nick: embeding videos that is
[11:53] nick: just bare with us
[11:53] darrellcurts: sweet
[11:53] saffireyin: awesome!
[11:53] kristen: Q. My Google Adsense reads do not match the reads on Xomba, why?
[11:53] kristen: A. The reason why the reads do not match is because Google scans Xomba to make sure the content is ok, when this happens it counts as a read. This does not happen on Adsense.
[11:54] nick: if you have a question feel free to interrupt Kristen. She's going to be posting general questions that get emailed to us.
[11:54] saffireyin: how frequest does it scan?
[11:55] saffireyin: frequent*
[11:55] darrellcurts: happens alot when linking facebook and twitter
[11:55] nick: all the time.
[11:55] nick: YUP! Link to facedbook and ESPECIALLY Twitter
[11:55] kristen: Q. Why is it that when I paste something from word into Xomba the formatting gets messed up?
[11:55] kristen: A. There is an icon on the rich text editor that looks like a W in front of the clipboard. This is the icon you should use when coping from Word.
[11:56] kristen: Q. I am not coping from Word but from a different document and my formatting still doesn't work. What should I do?
[11:56] kristen: A. There is an icon on the rich text editor that looks like a piece of paper in front of a clip board. This allows you to copy from anything other then word.
[11:57] kristen: Q. Why am I receiving so much spam lately?
[11:57] josephehoward: I was wondering if there is going to be a transcript of this chat to read through just in case some-time is missed?
[11:57] kristen: A. Xomba is a growing community with more and more people joining everyday. We are trying our hardest to keep the spam to a bare minimum and we very much appreciate when you give us a heads up about someone who is either spamming your inbox or one of your articles.
[11:57] nick: Yes, but we can't promise it.
[11:58] nick: :)
[11:58] nick: a little disclaimer there
[11:58] kristen: Q. What are votes and why are they important?
[11:59] kristen: A. Xomba's votes are all in good fun. They are a way to tell someone you like they're article without actually commenting. They also bring the articles higher and higher up in the "most votes" catagory.
[11:59] nick: Does everyone understand the difference between votes and userpoints?
12:00] saffireyin: I think so. Aren't user points the points from commenting, posting, etc?
[12:00] josephehoward: where can I find the "most votes catagory?" And, no I didn't know there was a difference between votes and points
[12:00] nick: Yes
[12:01] nick: Userpoints are what you get when you do specific actions on Xomba, post, invite people, etc... Votes deal with the plus sign on the article
[12:01] kristen: Q. Why can't I post a title of an article in all capital letters?
[12:01] josephehoward: right, I knew that, sorry...
[12:02] kristen: A. At Xomba, you are not allowed to do this because it usually indicated that someone is screaming at someone else so this is not allowed.
[12:02] kristen: Q. I own the rights to some articles on different websites, can I copy them onto Xomba?
[12:02] kristen: A. Though it is not considered plagairism because you do own the rights, Xomba has a rule that states that everything must be in your own words. Unfortunately, on Xomba, if you haven't written it, it is not allowed, whether you own the rights or not.
[12:03] kristen: Q. Why is my account blocked? All I did was post free live streaming sports channels?
[12:03] saffireyin: wait that confuses me a little
[12:03] kristen: A. Xomba has a rule that only allows one free live streaming post a day.
[12:03] kristen: what confuses you?
[12:03] saffireyin: the copying thing. does that mean we can't copy or we can? haha
[12:04] kristen: You can copy...but only the things that you wrote for yourself
[12:04] saffireyin: kk
[12:04] kristen: Though..
[12:04] kristen: if you are writing a Xomblurb and linking to your own article...the summary must be in your own words...not copied directly from the link you are linking to
[12:05] saffireyin: yea, that makes sense
[12:05] kristen: Q. Can I post the same article on different occasions and just change a few words?
[12:05] guest-2693 entered the room
[12:05] kristen: A. No, every article must be unique and it must be in your own words.
[12:05] guest-2693 changed nickname to mamamia07
[12:06] kristen: Mamamia07 Welcome
[12:06] mamamia07: thanks kristen
[12:06] kristen: Do you have any questions for us?
[12:06] mamamia07: just a min
[12:06] kristen: ok just let us know...
[12:07] kristen: Q. Why won't it allow me to italize everything in my article?
[12:07] kristen: A. We do not see the need to italize everything, or even massive amounts of this, because it begins to look like spam.
[12:07] mamamia07: embed video - still cannot do it
[12:07] saffireyin: oh yea, I feel rude not saying hi to everyone before so I just want to say nice to meet everyone ^_^
12:08] mamamia07: hi Nick, hi everyone
[12:08] baldwin: video embeding will be back once we get a programer, for now you should just post a link to the video
[12:09] mamamia07: ok thanks - just wanted to know if that was on agenda
[12:10] saffireyin: lots of things are on the agenda, I'm pretty excited haha
[12:11] kristen: Q. Can I change my username?
[12:11] kristen: A. There is no way to change your username.
[12:11] kristen: Q. Can Xomba help me get approved for Google Adsense?
[12:11] kristen: A. Xomba has no control over the approval of Google Adsense.
[12:11] kristen: How we doing? Any other questions?
[12:12] darrellcurts: when is the xomba team world tour?
[12:12] kristen: We start next week! You gonna come see us? :-)
[12:12] saffireyin: I think you guys are doing good, I'm learning a lot
[12:13] mamamia07: lokk forward to that - dont forget our part of the World!
[12:13] kristen: BTW, if your not a fan on facebook...we have an on going contest that you can find on our wall now. You can win a $25 gift card to Amazon
[12:13] saffireyin: what's the world tour? O_o
