#14 - Facebook Friends & Maturity

I’ve been thinking...

As much as I value having a large amount of friends on Facebook, I have come to realise a frustrating correlation that occurs by having an unaccountable amount of colleagues. It is quite apparent when I am deleted by someone, because the number of friends I have decreases, but it is nearly impossible to know for sure by whom I was removed.

As minute as this problem may be, I’ve found the very knowledge that someone chose to remove me from their list, crawls under my skin. I suppose it is a pretty petty thing to be worried about.

Why are we as people so focused on being well-liked?

I presume, even more absurd; is the idea of me complaining about this on Facebook, given the person who deleted me, will most likely not be reading this note.

Oh well, I suppose it’s the price you pay for the illusion of popularity.

I’ve also been thinking: Maturity is being able to take responsibility for your actions, and being accountable for your mistakes. Wisdom is knowing when you don't have to.
