1 in 6 billion

We all have our wishes,
Different goals and dreams.
But there is one desire present,
In almost every single soul.
To be accepted in this world,
To be appreciated by the rest.
An overlooked desire,
Assumed as one always being filled.

But still there are those noticed every now and then,
They make a difference, but don’t fit in.
They want to be accepted,
They want to be known.
They are the 1 in 6 billion,
In which the desire is strongest,
But the goal is just out of reach.

For every now and then,
They seem to fit in,
Only to be shot down by the world again.
They are the 1 in 6 billion,
Known by many and yet still left alone,
To do their own thing,
And to find their own way,
Like a roller coaster ride from hell.

They are the 1 in 6 billion part of our lives.
They are the 1 in 6 billion we see every day.
And they are the 1 in 6 billion we pass by the most,
Not knowing their torment inside.
For in the 1 in 6 billion the desire burns strongest,
And yet the goal is still out of reach.
