2007 Best Freeware Software Applications
posted December 15, 2007 - 4:29pmI like free stuff, so here are the top 10 freeware software applications for 2007:
1. Foxit Reader
Foxit Reader is a great replacement for the slow and clunky adobe reader. My biggest complaint about the adobe reader is how slow it loads. The Foxit Reader is much
faster and friendlier to use. Try this once, and I'll bet that you never go back to Adobe.
2. AutoHotKey
AutoHotKey writes scripts for automating routine keystroke sequences - cool interface and saves me lots of time.
3. Blender
Have you ever seen the amazing CGI movies that Pixar makes - movies like Anaconda or Ratatouille? Blender makes computer generated graphics that are very similiar to Pixar. Your friends will be amazed!
4. Windows Live Writer
Windows Live Writer is still in beta testing, but keep your eyes open for the 1.0 release very soon. Windows Live Writer makes the art of blogging both easy and comfortable. It supports Blogger, TypePad, and WordPress plus it also comes with some very good plugins.
5. Sharepod
Much better than the iTunes software that comes with your Ipod, Sharepod is the best way to get all of those files off your iPod and onto into your computer. Sharepod freely and easily transfers files from an Ipod to computer.
6. Snipping Tool
With this program, you can take screenshots of the whole screen and then immediately start editing it before saving it on your compter. Snipping Tool comes installed in Windows Vista.
7. IrfanView
This is a simple graphic viewer with many essential features like email, thumbnail/preview option, visual effects, color depth adjustments, and an extensive database of supported file formats.
8. ImgBurn
ImgBurn is my favorite tool for creating image files from discs and for burning images to discs. The cool thing about ImgBurn is that iIt even supports Blu-Ray and HD DVD.
9. MusikCube
Uncluttered, easy to use, and a truly lightweight application, MusikCube makes most people "believers" after just a few seconds of use. This is what the slow and clunky iTunes should be like.
10. ConTEXT
A great desktop replacement for the "Notepad" application, and it is also a big help for software developers and beta testers.
