Barely hours after finishing their college careers, some of the top women's basketball players learned where they will be beginning their professional careers. Candace Parker, whose Tennessee team won its second consecutive national championship Tuesday night in Tampa, was chosen by the Los Angeles Sparks as the first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, held Wednesday in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Stanford star Candice Wiggins, whose team was on the losing end of that game, was chosen as the third pick by the Minnesota Lynx.

Sylvia Fowles, the Lousiana State star whose team lost to Tennessee in the last seconds of its game on Sunday night, was the second overall pick. She was chosen by the Chicago Sky.

The WNBA begins its 12th season in May.
