25 Worst Movie Sequels of All Time
posted December 4, 2007 - 1:20amThe word sequel comes from the Old French and means "something that follows". In today's vernacular, sequel means "squeeze every last penny out of it".
Sometimes we see a movie that was fantastic the first time and--perhaps--it made the studio some money. In Hollywood today, where there seems to be a dearth of fresh, original script ideas, the movie sequel is almost a cliche.
Sometimes a sequel is a good idea--the characters get a little more depth or maybe the original story left us wanting more. What often happens, though, is studio greed replaces common sense and movies are slapped together and rushed into theaters without a reality check.
For those movies that suffered from a lack of a serious reality check, this is your list. I was going to say, "Pass the popcorn," but maybe I should say, "Pass the Pepto."
