2,500 World Languages Threatened With Extinction

According to UNESCO,the United Nation's cultural agency, 2,500 of the world's 6,900 languages could be facing extinction. The 2001 atlas of world languages listed 900 languages as endangered.

India has the highest number of endangered languages,followed by the United States and Indonesia. More than 200 world languages have become extinct over the last three generations.
