4 Kids, 2 Dads, 1 night
On the night of Saturday 3rd, May 2008, Scotland was shocked and saddened by two horrible and similar events which occurred around the same time on the same night.
At around 16.30, two brothers aged 6 and 2 years old, were found stabbed to death in the back of their fathers car in Lennoxtown near Glasgow. The father of the boys was discovered a few meters from the car with severe burns. The man was kept under armed guard in hospital, and while police have launched a murder enquiry, they refused to comment if the man was a suspect in the case.
The scene was described as a absolutely horrific discovery in such a beautiful and quiet part of the country. The car that the two brothers were discovered in had to be taken away in an enclosed vehicle. The two boys were found stuffed in the boot of the car.
Almost 80 miles north and only 2 hours later, a mother stepped into her home to discover her 7 year old son and 25 year old daughter stabbed to death by their own father, the mothers ex-husband. The father was found unconscious, but was soon brought to a stable condition and was kept under armed guard. It is believed he tried to take his own life.
The mother who had separated from her husband only a few months previous, was visiting her children as she regularly did on a Saturday. On the discovery, she screamed the house down and managed to call an ambulance and the police. She collapsed soon after and was taken to a different hospital.
The son and daughter who were killed, were 2 of 4 children that were in the family. Shockingly, the brother of the young boy and girl was upstairs in his bedroom when his brother and sister were killed by their father. The 4th son who lives in Essex, England, rushed up to be with his family.
The father, who has since been charged, offered no comment or statement to his actions.
