90.3 The Core Gets A New Signal
90.3 The Core launched a new signal this past Saturday. The college radio station features underground music of all genres directed towards people looking for something other than mainstream music. In 2005, the station had a 36 hour marathon in which they took over a local mall in hopes of raising money for a new tower. The old tower, which was located on top of Piscataway High School, which The Core has a partnership with, is now replaced with a much bigger tower now located on the Livingston Campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. With the new signal, The Core gets to increase where the station can be heard by 85%. Now it will be able to reach around one million people everyday in the Central Jersey area. To celebrate, The Core, along with its Piscataway partner, hosted a dedication dinner Saturday night. The dinner featured around 230 guests which served as a big "Thank you" to everyone who helped make the tower possible.
