A Balinese Family with Twenty One Children
A Balinese Family with Twenty One Children
How many children are perfect to be a complete family? One, two, four or even six? For those who could afford having many children, supporting them morally and materially, I'd say go for it. However there are those people who keep having them just because they don't believe in family planning.
I've read a story in the national paper of a couple in Bali, Indonesia, who just had their 21st baby, yes, twenty-first child. Again, as I've said before, as long as they could support them, it's fine by me. The problem rise with the fact that this family lives in a small rented house. Are you wondering where they put all their children? Crooks and crannies in the house? Guess again. The couple ships the children away when it is time for them to enter school. Where do you ask? To the children's grandparents.
They who reap are those who sowed. Needless to say this is not the case. It is sad thinking of parents exposing their children to lack of comfort that they should have provided. Many have asked to adopt the children and with saying the family motto that "family sticks together" the parents refused. I applauded that motto, but as many things in the world there is a grey area. This one is it. Can parents say that their family sticks together when they ship the children away? When the children admittedly feel embarrassed with the situation and how the other children ridiculed them?
What can society do? This is another picture of a human life from far away land.
