A Dog With a New Calling
A Dog With a New Calling
Hi there, my name is Whisper, I am a three year old Border Collie dog, who, up until this very day, was just a regular familiy member.
Today I learned something about myself that was quite a surprise not only to my owner, but to me as well. It turns out that I can do more to help others besides what I do for my family.
Being a Border Collie, I tend to get worked up excited easily. I like to be busy and for most of my life, my "job" has been to: 1. Ensure my owner gets her butt outside at least four times per day for fun and play,(she really needs this because she spends waayy too much time on her computer). 2. To give my people love and attention. 3. Bark at those who dare to trespass too close to my dwelling. and 4. Break up any rough-housing and horse play that my people tend to engage in (somebody could get hurt you know).
Today, I became aware of a new purpose. My person took me to a long term care facility to visit with her grandma. I was really nervous about it at first because I am a bit jittery in new places, but the nurses were really welcoming and the elderly folks there were wonderful, each one reaching out to pet me,some even giving me whatever yummy thing that they happened to have in their hand.
Whisper and friend
It was a great day for me. I received so much attention, and pets, everybody seemed to be so happy to see me. They have even asked me to come back again. I think I have a new calling now, to bring some happiness and joy to those who are unable to live at home with their families.
My only hope is that my owner can handle me giving my attention to somebody else instead of her, (she sometimes gets a little jealous when I don't let her pet me all the time).

Sweet sweet Whisper
what a beautiful dog! Border collies are so loyal and sweet. I bet your grandma really enjoyed Whisper too. That was a great idea to take him with you. Nice point-of-view xombyte also! Please give Whisper a big pat on the head for me! But don't tell him I have a cat :) +1

The Whisper Effect
The biggest suckie in the world, and quite fond of cats...actually most of the folks there loved her now they want her to come (I'm like the accessory). Don't worry Mia, she'll get lots of pats.
