A Dreamer's Guide to Dreamology
A Dreamer's Guide to Dreamology
Our dreams can be a wonderful escape, especially when they are remembered or the good feelings that they give us, stay with us afterwards. Some dreams are the subconscious mind's way of sorting through and attempting to make sense of the events of the day. There are ways to categorize dreams based on the content.
PRACTICAL:
Practical dreams are mostly about what has already happened. There may be some symbolism, involved but mostly these types of dreams can be taken literally.
ASPECT:
Aspect dreams usually involve some symbolism as well as "archetypes"; males or females in your dream that represent some aspect of your own personality. This is the subconscious mind trying to communicate to the ego about some part of the personality that may need attention. They are not too difficult to decipher when there is no self-denial. Being honest with yourself is an important part of the growth process that your dreams assist you with every night. When you acknowledge these aspects of yourself and do what you can to change or improve upon them, then you are moving forward in that growth.
PREDESTINE:
This type of dream is rare, as the dreamer who dreams it. The "prophetic" dream or dream of foretelling, will leave you with a very strong sense of what is to come as if it had already happened.
REMEMBERING DREAMS:
This takes some practice and consistency, but with a little work, we can train our minds to remember a lot of the dreams that we would normally forget. Keeping a dream diary, next to where you sleep, is one element that will make remembering dreams quite easy. As soon as you wake up in the morning, or whenever you wake up, write everything you can remember from your dream before you even get out of bed. Try to note any objects or symbols that you see, the names of the people in the dream and especially what you thought and how you felt. After a couple of weeks of this exercise, you will remember more and more of your dreams.
INTERPRETING DREAMS:
As you remember more of your dreams, you fill find yourself looking for a deeper meaning in them. First you must determine which category to put it in. Once determined, you can uses your dream diary to observe patterns in your dreams and compare them to what is happening in your life.
Symbols that you see in your dreams can be used to interpret your dreams as well. Some symbols are just things that have significant meaning to you and some are symbols that are common throughout humanity, that is to say, they hold the same type of meaning for most people. Most of the "historical" symbols are familiar, the meanings of which can be found with some research the rest you will be quite able to figure out by diligently using your own notes.
As you learn about your dreams, you learn about yourself, breaking down the barrier between your conscious and subconscious mind.
Good luck, and don't stop dreaming.

Good advice!
It is especially important to keep a pen and pad handy next to the bed to write down thoughts as soon as we wake up. While sleeping and in the waking stage, we are connected directly to the Universe via our subconscious mind. If we are trying to solve a problem, all we need to do is ask that the answer come to us while we sleep; more often than not, it will be part of a dream or lucid thought and we will need to "download" the information before our conscious minds become active again.
I am a big supporter of using our sleep time to work on things in concert with our Higher Self because that is the one time we are guaranteed to have some quiet down time. That is also why I advocate spending a few minutes each night before bed to journal and write down everything that happened that day. For me, it is easier to have constructive dream time and awaken fresh for a new day if I've not been reliving things from the previous day.
Great article!
DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
Thank you
Although dreaming is one of my favourite ways to connect with myself, spending quiet time outdoors is also an excellent way to commune with the higher self, nature speaks directly to our spirit and if we can keep ourselves quiet, we can hear the whispers of the universe.
Great Article
