A make up artist’s job made difficult thanks to HD
posted January 8, 2008 - 12:58amLately I have had many contracts involving photography workshops in which models are photographed in front of an audience and the pictures are displayed on a screen in front of them. The people taking the workshop then have the opportunity of witnessing the result of the equipment displayed in front of them combined with the way it is used. This is a fine idea in theory, however, the lately obsession with HD sccreens are ruining this experience. As make up artists, we now have to make the model’s face look unnatural in order for it to look natural on the screen. Blemishes, red spots and pimples cannot be covered as much because the cover up will appear on the screen but they cannot be under covered because the imperfection will then show. Like our job was not hard enough already. This makes the job longer and creates problems that were not there before.
