A Note from Xomba

A Note from Xomba

Happy New Year!
We changed the word count minimum from 25 to 50 words on any future Xombytes.

This is to discourage users from writing two sentences about a topic. We consider this spamming. If you are going to write a brief summary about a topic make sure you post it as a Xomblurb and include a link.

An example of an appropriate Xombyte can be found at
www.xomba.com/january_1_1983_tcp_ip_takes_hold

The following WILL NO LONGER BE CONSIDERED an acceptable Xombyte
www.xomba.com/12_second_sequence

To make this an appropriate post you could give it a link and post it as a Xomblurb.

We want to provide readers with good content. We understand everyone wants to make money, but that doesn't mean we can just allow outright spamming of the Xombytes.

Keep this in mind when posting anything on Xomba. If you post a Xombyte/Xomblurb that you yourself find inadequate then you should not post it.

Please feel free to contact us with questions.

Increase Credibility!

I'm really glad that you increased the word count from 25 to 50. I put a lot of work into my xombytes, especially my credit articles. This will increase my credibility as a writer for xomba, and I hope people will become more educated in the subject by reading my articles on credit. I don't expect to make lots of money on these articles, but I hope people will become wiser in regards to their spending habits, and finances. http://www.xomba.com/how_to_receive_credit_understand_credit_laws

and the good news

We found a program that should meet our needs. The website is called www.talkshoe.com We'll post a date on when we're having the workshop in the morning.

Bad News

It does not appear that Skype is going to work out for us.

Online Workshop

We should be making a decision on when exactly the Xomba Workshop will be held by the end of this week. Looks like we'll be using Skype. Which is a free program found at www.skype.com The online workshop will be held on a weeknight EST. We're going to try to record it and we'll probably have others depending on how successful it goes. So get your questions ready. We'll give you an update in the next couple of days.

don't worry

Please leave the Xombyte that we posted here alone. We're not targeting you just showing an example. Don't worry about what is already posted in the past. We're only starting this rule today. No worries.

Oops!

My bad. I will try and correct those really short articles. Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate all the help I can get.

Digg's hostility toward original writing sites...

I'm not saying that the ownership of Digg is hostile, but the inner circle of members is openly hostile to sites that feature independent, original articles. I used to submit links and otherwise participate in the Digg "community" because they featured a huge amount of news and information. What I found over a period of time is that certain topics are favored by the inner circle and tend to get hundreds or thousands of Diggs, but original content is buried if not dismissed outright as "blogspam". Take Ron Paul topics, for instance. I am a Ron Paul supporter, so I look for topics there about the man. Those that are not actually buried feature comments so blatantly anti-RP that you would think that the news staff at Faux News and Controlled News Network spent part of their workday trolling their pages. This hostility tends to favor controlled wire stories at the expense of debate that actually makes people think about what is REALLY going on in this country and in the world today. If you want a site that features controlled BS all in one place, you have Digg. If you want a site that features original content and actual thinking/writing, you have Xomba. My two cents. Click here if you have something to say and want to get paid to say it!

Digg

I emailed them a couple of times at the time and have never gotten a response... I just emailed them again and I will let you know if they answer. I think increasing the minimum word count on bytes is a great idea. Happy New Year Angel

Excellent!

I am all for the new minimum. It is a disservice to those of us who take the time to research an article and write it out for the search engines to have a dozen articles ostensibly on the same subject but just thrown together, to have quality lost in quantity in the "Related Articles" section. I like the idea of a Writing Community as opposed to a Getting Paid by any Means Possible Community. Click here if you have something to say and want to get paid to say it!

Digg

We're not sure why Digg stopped allowing users to post to them. We emailed them and got no response. I am sure if all of you emailed them maybe someone would get a reason. Who knows.
