If your chances of getting ovarian cancer were reduced by having a tubal ligation, would you go for it? Recent studies have shown that the risk of ovarian cancer is greatly reduced after a woman undergoes tubal ligation. Researchers are unsure as to why this is so. One theory is that having one's tubes tied reduces the chances of carcinogens making a passage from the vagina to the ovaries, from the fallopian tubes. If they are tied, this significantly restricts the path of these cancer-causing pathogens. According to the studies, the risk of getting ovarian cancer was reduced by as much as 60 to 67% by choosing to have the tubal ligation surgery performed.
