A Review of, "A Black Christmas"

Saturday night at the movies right before the kids get ready to go back to school after their long holiday break seemed like a good idea.

My daughter, and my niece actually wanted to go skating but we were pressed by time and would only be skating for an hour, so my daughter suggessted a $2.00 movie. She wanted to see something scary. We decided to see A Black Christmas which was already 10 minutes into running. I noticed that the movie was rated PG 13 or 17. The fact is it wasn't Rated R, and I didn't want my 14, and nine year old seeing anything Rated R. The movie actually cost $14.00 in all, but the price is irrelevant.
The movie was actually good. It is a remake of a movie called A Black Christmas that was made in 1979, from what my oldest daughter says she read on the internet. Anyway once inside the theatre, the killer was locked up in a jail, or crazy assylum. It was said by one of the characters that he was known to escape every Christmas, and go home, and kill people, but the guard vowed, that that wasn't going to happen this Christmas. Evidently the guard was wrong, and was the killers(Billys') first victim.

Billy made it home to where his old home was, which was now a winter resort for a sorority that visited every year. Billy had killed two of the sorority sisters without any one noticing that they were missing. He lived in the walls, the attic, under the house, and the ceilings and floors. The movie shows how Billy became crazy, in spurts. One of the oldest sisters in the sorority was telling the tale of Billys' birth. He was born of a liver disease. His mother never liked him and his father. Her boyfriend killed his father, which Billy witnessed, and so he was locked in the attic of their house for all of his adolecent life. One day his mother was making out in the floor with her boyfriend ( a scene you don't want your kids to see ), whom fell asleep. So she got up, and went into the addict, and made out with Billy. She had a baby girl which the boyfriend assumed it was his but it was really Billys'. One Christmas came and Billy went crazy, attempting to kill his sister / daughter, by plucking one of her eyes out, and killing both the boyfriend and his mother.

Meanwhile back to the present, Billy is in the house terrorizing, and killing the sorority sisters. Once he is revealed, we find out that it's his sister / inbreed daughter instead. Both of them were killing people. In all, there was two sisters whom lived through the whole ordeal. Billy, and his sister are suppse to have burned up inside of the house. The two sorority sisters, and all of the dead bodies are tooken to the hospital. As we all know it's hard to kill a deranged lunatic, and so Billy, and his sister weren't dead. At least not then. They ended up killing one of the surviving sorority sisters, and the last surviving sorority sister ended up killing both Billy, and his sister. Well we know that Billy died a tragic death but his sister might live to be in a sequeol to another A Black Christmas.

yes, indeed!

reviewing a movie (sez the former film student) is a tricky thing for the best of them... or for roger ebert. now THERE'S a slob worthy of a xombyte! & like all good reviews (good well-presented... not good positive), yer "black christmas" write-up told of your particular experience taking the kids to see a scary movie with a few plot details & an assessment of why you enjoyed it & why you thought others might enjoy it. i'm not going to yammer about the spelling or grammar 'cause i don't pay them much mind meself. don't worry too much about revealing part of the plot, 'cause if they haven't seen the movie then folks aren't gonna remember or understand what yer talking about anyways. the thing about giving away plot details to a slasher movie... especially one called "black christmas"... & ESPECIALLY one who's tv ads have been in such heavy rotation... is that anyone who's likely going to see the movie knows whether or not they're likely going to see the movie LONG before they read yer write-up. me? i'm just glad to hear you can still take kids to see a scary movie. my boy just turned 9 & he'll want to start going to see them soon. & i just KNOW people are gonna be telling me about how scary movies will stunt his growth or turn him into a serial killer or some such nonsense. i saw jaws when i was 7... & 20 years later when i could go back in the water again i clearly showed that it didn't affect me in the least!

or maybe not...

Was It Good?

Was my review good? I was wondering if I should have explained more of the plot but I didn't want to tell about all of the movie or give too much information away. I want my readers to say,"um, that sounds like a good movie to go see." http://www.xomba.com/xombyte/YoungManInc http://www.xomba.com/referral/777781cf Mr. R.L. hmm...

well, sir, you've got me there. i haven't seen the remake & it's been years since i saw the original, but yer writeup appears to reveal less of the plot & twists & such than any of the ones i've glanced through in the paper. i find people are MORE inclined to go see a movie if they've had the whole plot explained to them (even though they'll say they aren't). or maybe that's just the women i know... meanwhile, my local obscure video joint tells me that their copy of the original is due back wednesday... i may have a black christmas yet!! it's a january miracle!

or maybe not...

Naw.....

Naw she didn't. She looked it up on Yahoo (movies). Tell me though does my blog sound anything like the real movie? I tried to explain the movie without going into great detail. I didn't want to tell the whole story, or give away too much information where the reader of my blog wouldn't want to go see the movie. http://www.xomba.com/xombyte/YoungManInc http://www.xomba.com/referral/777781cf Mr. R.L. did she learn it from me?

say... did your oldest daughter learn about the original "black christmas" from my xombyte of My 10 Christmas Movies? i'm just wondering... i won't be seeing the remake (my whole not-seeing-remakes issues), but the original is a GAS if you love cheap canadian horror trash as much as i do...

or maybe not...
