A riddle for the xomba crowd

There are three people stranded who would like to cross a river. They have a boat, which could only carry 200 pounds at a time. Two of the people weight 100 pounds each and the third person weights 200 pounds. If they all go on boat at once, that will be a total of 300 pounds and the boat will sink. That’s not an option, so what can they do to get across without sinking the boat? Think first, it’s not hard, but it needs some thinking. Also take a look at the hint below.

Hint: They can make as many trips as necessary.

Correct answer!!!

Wow! Yes, that's the answer! I knew You would have gotten it Jim! :)

Solution

Since 300# is the tipping point, the boat cannot exceed that at any time. I will call each 100# person A and B. The 200# is C. Trip #1: Both A&B cross together. B stays. A rows back across and exits boat. Trip #2: C takes the boat across and exits boat. B rows back across. Trip #3: A&B cross together and exit boat. All three make it and never exceed the maximum load of the boat. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
