Afghanistan
posted October 18, 2009 - 8:02amAfter serving 13 years with the British Army I have seen many things, many cultures and many problems. One of the problems I see is Afghanistan. What I think we need to do to solve the problem there is give the people there what we have in Europe and the US;
1. A good Education (A good Education is the basis, to teach people what’s right from wrong)
2. Money, but not in hand i.e. large lump sums( that just eventually falls into the wrong hands and be used to aid corruption and crime because thats all its doing at the moment).
3. We need to give them an excuse to work, give them better equipment to farm their lands and create a basis for an economy to grow.
4. Assist them with building an industry to build better houses, factories, schools etc.
5. Assist them in building better Telecommunications Networks to give them a link to the world outside.
6. Thorough training for all the Afghanistan security services, if it means they come to our side of the world for the training then so be it.
7. Raw opium has extreme qualities and can be used medically for relief of severe pain, headaches, and other medical issues so lets not fight against getting rid of all the opium sites, lets speak with the elders of the Taliban and work with them in using it to our benefit as well as theirs. “Stop the fighting and the bloodshed".
Afghanistan doesn't need a babysitter but I think the Country does need help in finding the right direction so they can eventually look after theirselves. I hope once the younger generation comes into life times are changed for the better.
Above is just a few ideas to help Afghanistan, any expressions on what I’ve said then add your notes.
