Air Deccan enters air cargo

MUMBAI: The low cost airline, Air Deccan is planning to enter in Air cargo business, Managing Director G.R. Gopinath said.
The company is planning to sell its stake in Investec Bank, which will be utilsed for the cargo operation and further expansion of the business.

Investec Bank is offering Rs 150 per share, valuing the stake at $6.6 m. "We have a long association with Investec and they wanted a stake," Gopinath said.

Investec Bank has also funded Air Deccan, the operation will start in six to nine months, Gopinath stressed.

"There is tremendous synergy given our huge network and operating bases". Our company has 40 planes flying to 60 centers and 8 operating bases spread across the country, he added.
