Airlines versus Terrorism
Sometimes you get one of those little things that go off in your head, which gets you thinking and today I was sat outside when I had one of those moments.
I was watching a plane go by, what with
all the news about 9/11 memorials and grieving that has been going on I had a thought!
Well we all know airport and airline security is a big must have in this day and age of terrorist threats, or possible terrorist threats. But there could be one or two simple solutions to the ‘what if a terrorist group actually managed to get on board a passenger plane?’
We know of the secret ‘Air Marshals’ and other hidden teams, we know of the Air Force jets that are ordered to shoot planes down, which incidentally is not a nice thought NORAD.
If a jet was to shoot down an aircraft with 300 plus passengers onboard, I think that would be a moral tipping point. I seriously do not see society being able to handle that without some kind of ramifications from the general public and internally in the White House/Senate.
So what if Airline Companies slipped a sleeping gas on board passenger flights?
If a terrorist group decided to stage an attack on a plane, a quick thinking pilot or cabin crew could trigger a slow release gas through the air conditioning rendering the plane safe, As the terrorist would fall asleep, as would the passengers and cabin crew.
A pilot on the other hand and an air marshal would be equipped with a gas mask.
I know speculatively speaking that an idea based on this method of apprehending a potential terrorist could be modified to be effective in this day of amazing technology.
This idea has to be better than shooting down planes with innocents onboard, it is not going to be easy for a terrorist to sneak a gasmask onboard an aircraft, nor too is it going to be easy for him to bring on board a Nuclear Biological and Chemical protective suit. So this limits the terrorist straight away!
I wonder if it has something to do with money? You know the cost of fitting out the world’s fleet of planes with sleeping gas administering technology etc, and that is why it is not done.
