186- AND YOU WILL BE TRIED AND TESTED IN YOUR POSSESSION AND IN YOUR SELVES, AND YOU WILL HEAR FROM THOSE WHO WERE GIVEN THE BOOK BEFORE YOU AND THOSE WHO WORSHIP PARTNERS BESIDES ALLAH A GREAT DEAL OF HURT.
nbsp; BUT IF YOU ARE PATIENT, PERSEVERE AND PIOUS, THIS WILL STRENGTHEN YOUR PURPOSE.
The believers have always been tested, all the followers of all the prophets and messengers, prayer and peace upon them, all suffered because of their faith, to some degree or another, and in one way or another. It happened to the followers of the prophets before Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, and to his followers as well.
The believers suffer financially and physically because of their faith. Let us look around the world, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Bosnia, Iraq, Kashmir, Iran, and there are more to come no doubt.
This suffering will not only be physically and economically but will also be psychological and emotional. It will be in the form of the spoken word, like insults, people being derogatory about them, and speaking down to them. We can not say that we have not been warned. Allah the Highest always subjects the believers to such tests, to sort out the faithful from the hypocrites. Allah the Highest said: “DID PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY WILL BE LEFT FOR SAYING: ‘WE BELIEVE’ WITHOUT BEING TRIED AND TESTED * WE HAVE TRIED AND TESTED THOSE BEFORE YOU, SO THAT ALLAH MAY KNOW THE TRUTHFUL FROM THE FALSE”. (S: 29 A: 2, 3)
Those who are patient, and persevere in what they are doing and do not loose faith, are rewarded by the Paradise. The different levels of testing and trials are usually to test the level of their Faith. Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “The Paradise is surrounded with difficulties and the Hell-Fire is surrounded with temptations”. (B: Reqaq; 117 & Mal: Jihad; 5 & D: Sonah; 22)
The way to succeed is, to be patient and persevere in worshipping Allah the Highest and to obey Him, and in being generally pious. This will strengthen our resolve, will and purpose. Out of the difficulties, the believers should become stronger and more self assured and confident.
