The city of Atlanta is home of one of the world’s favorite soft drinks: Coca Cola. If you are planning a family vacation to Atlanta, don’t miss the World of Coke. This museum honoring the soft drink is a must see event.

In 1886 pharmacist John S. Pemberton created the concoction and his business partner Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name and wrote out the famous curling ‘C’ s script. The initial sales of the beverage were just nine per day during the first year. Atlanta businessman, Asa Candler saw potential in the beverage and purchased Pemberton’s remaining business rights just prior to his death. Candler would eventually purchase all shares of the Coca Cola business and launch the company to become the household name success that it is today.

The World of Coca Cola opened in 1990 in the Underground area of Atlanta. Today, the World of Coca Cola is located in Pemberton Park near Centennial Olympic Park. The museum features more than 1,200 artifacts from around the world that pay homage to the beverage.

World of Coca Cola features a 4-D movie experience that has to be seen to be described, interactive exhibits and of course the famous tasting room. Families on vacation to the World of Coca Cola can sample more than 70 different Coke products from around the world.

The current mascot, the Coca Cola Polar Bear is also on display. The Coca Cola company has created a Coca Cola Polar Bear Support Fund to aid these endangered species.

The World of Coca Cola is open Monday through Saturday from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10a.m. to 5p.m.

Getting There
Travelers to Atlanta fly into Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the world’s busiest, and rent a car. From downtown Atlanta, the World of Coca Cola is located off Centennial Olympic Park Drive. Parking is $10.

MARTA rail stops N1 and W1 are a 10 minute walk from the World of Coca Cola
