Can this 21 year old exchange student from Seattle, Washington get a fair trial? Was it a weird sex encounter gone bad? Why did she tell police different stories about where she was at the time of the murder? Did the main prosecution witness really hear screams and running footsteps from the awful scene on a cold November night with her windows shut?

This story is filled with "ifs."

The prosecutor in this case has his whole career riding on this case. And, he's no "mister goody two shoes." He is so intent on getting a conviction, nothing else matters. He has a deep belief that Satanism was involved. He currently is being investigated for corruption, but, the Italian justice system allows him to continue as a prosecutor.

CBS' "48 Hours" devoted a whole hour and 16 months of investigative work sorting out this whole Amanda Knox thing.
