Amantadine, Anti-Viral Drug Used To Treat Flu And Parkinson's Disease

Last night's episode of House piqued the curiosity of many viewers about the anti-viral flu drug, amantadine.
Amantadine is a drug used to treat Parkinson's Disease and other similar conditions, plus amantadine is also used to treat infections like the flu.
On House, MD., Amber was dying, a diagnosis had to be found, a cure given and be on the road to recovery within less than an hour. For Amber, it was not to be. She died from complications of the combination of bus crash and amantadine, which she had been taking for the flu.
The bus crash injured Ambers internal organs, specifically her kidneys, and her injured body was unable to clear itself of the amantadine.
If the kidneys fail, the amantadine builds up in the patients body and causes amantadine poisoning, dialysis can not remove amantadine poisoning from the body.
