American Idol Recap and Discussion from Entertainment Weekly

Here is the recap from Entertainment Weekly on the American Idol elimination show on Wednesday. They usually hit most things right on the head. A pretty good little discussion thread at the end.

The only things that I would add is that I thought the Clark Brothers completely sucked. I don't care what they won or what they "usually" sound like. The vocals sucked. The guitarist couldn't play slide on a regular guitar let alone a steel guitar from what I saw and heard. And the other guy needs to throw that mandolin in the trash - maybe it will sound better from there. He had no idea what he was doing.

I know Dolly is 62 and is a legend. Hell, I even like some of her songs but I thought she sounded horrible as well. Voice was weak, arrangement not very melodic and sappy lyrics. I expected more.

The "9-5" was awful. Michael Johns looked like a complete idiot doing the little kicks in the beginning. No one looked like they wanted to sing that song except Carly.

I was waiting for a little 70's jazz/funk music as Kirsy Lee Cook hugged Ramy a little too close for too long with Ramy's head buried in her chest.
