Americans turned into Slaves by our own Government.

Americans turned into Slaves by our own Government.

Are those of us that are Americans actually being turned into slaves? No. Not in the traditional meaning of the word but the way our government keeps going with it's debt we will all be working just to get our government out of debt.

Democrats are considering a huge spending package to try and fix our current recession which will up our national debt by about $2 TRILLION this year. We have about 40% of our debt held by private investors and China took over Japan as our leading creditor, bumping their holdings 42% since last year. They are even saying when it's time to pay off these loans we're going to have to borrow more money to pay it back.

The article at washingtonpost.com that I just read said "As of yesterday, the debt stood at nearly $10.7 trillion, of which about $4.3 trillion is owed to other government institutions, such as the Social Security trust fund. Debt held by private investors totals nearly $6.4 trillion, or a little over 40 percent of gross domestic product."

Why is our government bailing out private companies when we are this far in debt? I even read another article with rumors that another bailout is coming. This time for individual states!! I guess all I can do is wait and see if all this new debt is just a ticking time bomb. Maybe it will fix our economy and maybe we will keep plummeting. Do I start hiding money under my mattress instead of in my bank account yet??
