AndAnotherTwit | Some Good News and Bad News about Twitter.com

Finally Figured Some of Twitter, Tweets and Twits Out

Twitter.com could be fun and a useful tool for writers. There’s definitely scope for spoof, mischief and agitation. You can add links with teases – 160 character maximum is great practice for copywriters - every word counts. We are following 6 Twits including the Daily Show – it isn’t the official Daily Show Twit but it has a lovely picture of Jon Stewart and Wilma Proops is stalking him at the moment…

Also posted two answers to the question “What are You Doing?” and linked them to articles or comments on articles AndAnotherThing2 has published.

The Bad News

The names AndAnotherThing and AndAnotherThing2 names have been taken – We’ve a good mind to follow them and confuse them with the itineraries of Wilma Proops, Dick Pringle (the Chef) et al. We also hope they are not fascists.

The Good News

The name AndAnotherTwit was not taken so we had that. Also alluded to the problem of people “p*ssing on your chips” in comments – felt good!

Our Bio – you must have a Bio and it too must be 160 characters or less - is:

Partly Arty Farty Comedy Agony Auntie, an opinionated resident of Umbridge. Fan of Call My Bluff, publishes a variety of stuff, as AndAnotherThing2.

and now to deal with Mr Howard...

I want you to know that I am only the PA to WILMA PROOPS and although I'll suffer for using a "pratty platitude" (Wilma Proops passim) please do not shoot the messenger. Let me assure you that Ms Proops rates your mental capacity - for a man - it is way above average at 83%. I may as well tell you that Ms Proops, for all her graces, is perhaps the crudest woman I have ever known and certainly the worst employer I've ever had. She is however a good single mother to her "vagina fruit" and does her best to parent, by prodding, pointing and p*ssing on the chips, literary genius wherever that might be - even, of all places - in Oregan. I've had a bad morning cleaning up Ms Proops mess - this is the second reply I've had to write, based on the hung-over slur of the recovering Ms Proops. The first was to MrBronco concerning the EuroVision Song Contest and a slight he dared voice in another comment Ms Proops (despite her state) took umbridge at - see below. "Tell Mr Bronco to Buck off his High Horse" (Wilma Proops) Submitted by AndAnotherThing2 on Fri, 2009-05-15 05:27. Comment continues: Excuse me? Most of the music - very much including GB's entry - despite the wheeling out of Mr Ugly (Cats, Phantom of the Opera) - is pants. Your reply would be better addressed to a flag waving patriotic Brit, than Ms Proops long suffering PA. My remark was not so much criticism as partaking in the national sport of taking the ***s out of this ridiculously camp and hilarious event. I'm not complaining about the Russian win last year - but come on, admit it was an inferior song. I defy anyone (even President Putin himself) to remember it. It was hardly Waterloo by Abba but nevertheless 7 former Russian states (who probably get their gas from the old Motherland) gave it the full 12 points. I may have a strange sense of humour at times but that was classic comic. Poor Terry Wogan - the presenter for 20 years - seemingly resigned over it - funnier and funnier. WILMA PROOPS if she ever gets back on the wagon (off on one of her binges as we speak) went to the Birmingham Eurovision rehearsal, real thing and after party and formed a close bond with Danna International - Israel's winning entrant in 1992 or 1993 (?) and has comps for tomorrow in Moscow (if she ever recovers). Hopefully she will pen an article full of severe insights. If she doesn't manage to get there I'm sure she'll be attending a Pink Pound Party - the best on offer in her locality at the moment - so only God knows what angle it will take. No offence intended - I voted your informative piece and Wilma was obviously worse for wear when she said to tell you to "buck off your high horse". Hope you see the funny side - she's an acquired taste... All the best* AndAnotherThing2 *Ditto Mr Howard JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join. Suggested answers for anyone not understanding twitter.com

Dear Mr Howard, I've given your comment some considerable thought and decided to offer a practical solution to your problem. Of course, you'll have to sign up for a twitter.com account before you can proceed but there are many step by step guides to this process or you may know a friend, neighbour or child who could help you do this. Once this has been accomplished you'll be ready to start. By then you should have greater understanding but if not: In answer to the question What Are You Doing Now? (the one posed by twitter.com 24/7/365 - unless down for maintenance) which must be answered using 140 characters or less try: not understanding anything about twitter, tweet, twits or tweeters OR trying to understand something about twitter, tweets, twits and tweeeters OR thinking this is a load of old cod's wallop OR hoping one day I will understand what the ***k is going on here JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join. Twitter? Planes in the Hudson? Another Twit Too? Eye yi yi yi!

what the hell is going on here??

Twitter & that plane

"it'll have been a link to the footage... Is this right or am I missing something - break it to me gently" That's it exactly... a person on the scene sent a tweet describing what he saw (on his smart phone or whatever), and included in that tweet a link to a photo he took with his smart phone. A site called TwitPic is the most popular site for posting photos that go with Twitter links. There are also sites with you can use to refer people to audio files (songs, mostly).

How you get an Airbus on Twitter

Why Mr Howard, you are a one! Thanks for correcting me IW. Still finding my claws and talons... Twitter demands short sharp stabs... what was perplexing me - given the admirable 140 character rule was how the f**k do someone manage to get the jumbo in the Hudson on a twit? That's a mighty huge machine and body of water... then the penny dropped - it'll have been a link to the footage... Is this right or am I missing something - break it to me gently Cheers JOIN XOMBA HERE FREE Xomba is an international online community and anyone can join. Twitter

The Twitter message (tweet) is actually a maximum of *140* characters (the bio is 160)... so you've got even less room than you thought. When choosing a name to use, I think shorter is better, because it makes more characters available to people when they decide to retweet (forward, pass along) one's pithy and invaluable tweets. The short character count is definitely good for boiling one's message down to a minimal length (and for using obscure, barely understandable abbreviations!)
