Angioedema is an allergic reaction that is caused either due to a food or medication. Angioedema occurs as a swelling in the tissue just below the skin. It is very similar to urticaria (hives), except it occurs deeper in the skin. The swellings are known as welts and usually appear around the eyes and mouth or also on the hands, feet and throat.
