Are the iPod killers finally here?
posted October 23, 2006 - 10:50amFor the last few years mp3newswire.net has been surveying the latest MP3 players, and every time the big question comes up: Can any of the new models really give Apple's iPod a run for the money? In its latest review of media players, the survey finds that there may actually be some legitimate "iPod killers."
The review covers more than two dozen different models from a variety of manufacturers, from the latest Sony entries to the forthcoming Microsoft Zune to new models from SanDisk, Creatrive, and more. Unfortunately for Mac users like me, all of these models are compatible with Windows PCs only.
Mp3newswire's review offers brief but informative reviews of each of the models, along with a color photo. The players ferature all kinds of deisgns, from players that look almost exactly like an iPod to a beer-keg shaped player to one that's a mini football helmet. The models reviewed include:
* Sony NW-S205F and NW-S203F Sports Player
* SanDisk Sansa e280 8GB
* Microsoft Zune
* Sony NW-S706
* Samsung YP-K5
* OSIM iGoGo
* Archos 404, 504, and 604
* StormBlue A9+ Bluetooth
* Creative Zen V Plus 8GB
If you're looking for an MP3 player for yourself or for a gift, this is a great place to get an overview of what's available.
