There are Army ranks, and ranks of army. One is a position that is held in the chain of command, and the other is long lines of guys standing around, waiting to shoot someone. Preferably other ranks of guys on the other side of the field. Rarely do files come into play, because when they do, there is this whole conglomeration and bad puns that happen about rank and file.
