EEE PC info

I got it from J&R, a music/computer store in NYC (via mail order). I've bought from them many times over the last 20 years, so I know they're reputable. The 4GB model is $399; I haven't seen it discounted from that price anywhere.

Asus EEE

thanks for the comment IdleWild. Where did you buy yours and how much did it cost you?

Asus EEE PC

I'd been drooling over getting an EEE PC since I first heard about it in the summer, and finally got mine this week. I'm not sure if the 2GB model is being sold in the U.S., though... I got the 4GB model, which includes a Web cam (the 'Surf' models don't). So far I'm loving it. It has a nice software package, is compact, and only weighs 2 pounds... perfect for carrying anywhere to do writing or blogging or Web surfing. The big boys charging $2000 for their 'slim and light' laptops may need to rethink their price points. Granted, the EE PC leaves out a lot for the price, but Asus has certainly put the lie to the concept that a very mobile laptop has to cost a lot.
