Atlanta Falcons Players Fined for Michael Vick Tribute
posted December 18, 2007 - 3:50pmAtlanta Falcons players Roddy White, Alge Crumpler, DeAngelo Hall, Joe Horn, and Chris Houston were all fined by the NFL for violating uniform regulations by displaying Michael Vick tributes during last week's Monday Night Football game (Michael Vick, the Falcon's suspended quarterback, was sentenced to almost 2 years in prison on federal dogfighting charges).
After scoring a touchdown, White displayed a "Free Mike Vick" T-shirt under his jersey. In addition White, along with tight end Alge Crumpler and cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Chris Houston, were fined $10,000 each for wearing black eye strips with written tributes to Vick. The National Football League deemed this "displaying an unauthorized personal message."
If that wasn't enough, wide receiver Joe Horn was fined $7,500 for pulling up White's jersey to show the black T-shirt with handwritten Michael Vick lettering.
