Atlanta Falcons Players Fined for Michael Vick Tribute

Atlanta Falcons players Roddy White, Alge Crumpler, DeAngelo Hall, Joe Horn, and Chris Houston were all fined by the NFL for violating uniform regulations by displaying Michael Vick tributes during last week's Monday Night Football game (Michael Vick, the Falcon's suspended quarterback, was sentenced to almost 2 years in prison on federal dogfighting charges).

After scoring a touchdown, White displayed a "Free Mike Vick" T-shirt under his jersey. In addition White, along with tight end Alge Crumpler and cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Chris Houston, were fined $10,000 each for wearing black eye strips with written tributes to Vick. The National Football League deemed this "displaying an unauthorized personal message."

If that wasn't enough, wide receiver Joe Horn was fined $7,500 for pulling up White's jersey to show the black T-shirt with handwritten Michael Vick lettering.

They are acting like Vick is in prison only because he is black

Typical. Michael Vick committed a heinous crime and was sentenced appropriately. Some people, who obviously don't respect the sanctity of other living beings, believe that Vick did no wrong and is only in prison because of the color of his skin. Vick was so guilty that he couldn't use his money to pull an OJ and use the race card himself to obfuscate the facts in the case, so his teammates are doing it instead. All they are doing is making themselves look like idiots. If they were really all that as football players, Atlanta would be contending for/playing in the Superbowl instead of buying tickets to watch the game. Sympathy for Vick

Actually, the sentence seems rather short considering the extent of his involvement and his position as a role model. The fines for his team mates making gestures on his behalf are barely a slap on the wrist. Ten times the fines they were given would seem more appropriate. They too are role models for kids all over the world. It is time some of these guys took that seriously. IMHO Angel
