Atrial Fibrillation

The hearts electrical conduction is responsible for the contraction of the heart. Usually it start from the SA node going down to the AV and to the rest of the electrical conduction system.

Usually the electrical conduction can be seen with the use of the ECG machine. To see an overview of the hearts electrical conduction CLICK HERE

Atrial Fibrillation is an aryhtmia or an abnormal conduction of the electrical conduction of the heart originating from the atrium. During this condition, the atrium contracs eratically and therefore does not provide enough blood to the ventricles.

The ventricles in turn, will be affected and will also contract irregulary if the situation is not treated.

People with atrial fibrillation my collapse, or may suffer weakness and other conditions. Treatment should be done. In most cases, people with atrial fibrillation if cannot be treated by medication will have to undergo a pacemaker implant.
