Authentic Swedish French Toast Recipe (Fattiga Riddare) - Delicious!

An interesting version of traditional French Toast! From an vintage Scandinavian cookbook, publisher unknown.

Poor Knights (Fattiga Riddare)

6 slices dry white bread (you could try vienna or french)
1 egg
1 Tbsp. flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
butter for frying

Beat egg and add milk and other ingredients. Place bread on platter and pour egg mixture over, turn bread to allow mixture to soak through. Fry in butter on griddle or heavy skills. Serve hot with lingonberries and cream, maple syrup, or jelly. Serves 6.
