Baby Cough Medicine Recall

Hey, I know that my seven month old baby has a serious cough right now and it totally stinks that there is nothing I can give her for it because they recalled cough medicine. My baby's doctor told me not to give her any cough medicine because there have been some infant deaths related to cough medicine. Hopefully this doesn't last forever because it is really hard to watch my baby suffer from this horrible cough and I feel helpless. Another idea

My daughter is allergic to everything with ibuprofen in it so we've used basically NO meds on her. She's 2 now. I've used Vicks Baby Vapor Rub, and just a dab of it, right under her nose at bedtime. Coughing is usually caused from post nasal drip. This lessens it a little. Also, take the baby into the shower before bed, use the nasal aspirator too. In a pinch to stop the coughing at night, you might ask your Doctor about Benadryl although I believe your baby may be too young. You must be very careful with dosing with Benadryl. For the record, Benadryl stops adults from coughing at night too. Good luck to you and God bless your sweet baby.
