Bangkok Top Tourist attraction: Siam Niramit Theatre

The Siam Niramit Cultural Show is a unique, spectacular combination of sound and vision unmatched anywhere in the world. This opulent cultural display combines brilliant theatrical effects, incredible music, great acting and wonderful costumes. Once comfortably seated, you easily drift off and find yourself journeying through Thailand’s enchanted culture. This magical adventure takes you through Thailand’s arts and cultural heritage and leaves you with a sense of awe. If you are ever in Bangkok this show is one not to miss. In addition to the show you can also dine in their large restaurant serving delicious Thai food and walk around their traditional Thai village.

Having come from England and been to many London theatres I was most intrigued to see what Thailand had to offer. I did some checking and finally decided to visit the Siam Niramit Theatre in Tiamruammit Road, Huaykwang. Famed for its gigantic stage that is listed in the Guinness Book of Records, this world class spectacular utilizes 150 performers, 500 costumes, amazing special effects and can seat 2000 people. If that was not enough to wet your appetite, this incredible place takes you on an exciting and captivating journey through the enchanted Kingdom of Siam.

The show lasts for 3 Acts which is a comfortable 80 minutes. Believe me you’ll wish it went on for longer. Act I starts with The Ancient Kingdom of Lanna, travels through the trading of South Seas, the heritage of the Khmer civilization and on into the ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya. Once the colourful historical part is complete you are then taken on a fantastic spiritual journey into the mythical world of Thai Legends and beliefs. Act II starts with a powerful depiction of Hell, followed by an enchanted Himapaan Forest full of imaginary creatures and finally ends with a blissful image of Heaven with its celestial music and flying angels. The show comes to a relaxing conclusion in Act III with a display of Joyous Thai Festivals covering Songkran, Loy Krathong, The Ghost Parade and Ordination Ceremonies.

This show is fantastic and great value for money as it is only 1500 Baht entrance. During the show you will see many exciting things and dazzling special effects such as lightening and thunder, flying angels, a costumed elephant, live goats, river boats, an on-stage lake, mystical fog and elaborate scenery. The time and effort that gone into this is commendable and a ‘must see’ for residents and tourists alike.

You will be mesmerized by its sheer size and the enormous variety of costumes, extras, scenery and back drops. The effects are cutting edge and combined with the superb soundtrack this show really does take you on a journey. This has to be one of Thailand’s most spectacular attractions and everyone involved can be very proud of what they have achieved. It sits up there with the very best the world has to offer and is certainly one of the most amazing I have ever seen. Congratulations to all the Thai people involved, that have made this such an incredible experience. Go see it, you won’t be disappointed ! See www.siamniramit.com for details.
