Barack Obama Decides Not To Visit Wounded Troops - Works out at Ritz Carlton Gym Instead

Barack Obama on his trip to Europe decided not to visit wounded troops. At first, his campaign reported it was a scheduling problem and he didn't have time. However, when it got out that he went to the Ritz Carlton and worked out in their gym, the story line changed. (Much like his positions on important issues) Now his campaign says that Barack Obama decided not to meet with wounded soldiers because his trip overseas was paid for by campaign contributions and so he didn't think it was appropriate. What? It was appropriate to give a speech to Europeans who can't vote in our election? But it's not okay to visit with wounded soldiers who can? Unbelievable!!!!!

From Bloomberg news:

"Scott Gration, a foreign-policy adviser to Obama, said that the U.S. Defense Department told the campaign late yesterday that the visit to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center would be viewed as ``a campaign event.'' The military said that, while it endorsed a visit, it determined that Obama wasn't allowed to be accompanied to the medical center by campaign staff."

Questions were also raised because Obama's European trip was sponsored by his campaign, and whether a trip to see wounded soldiers paid with campaign funds would be appropriate.

Obama did call a number of wounded soldiers on the phone.

So what are *your* sources?
