Barack Obama Projected to Win 349-189 in Electoral College (Interactive Map)

According to the Washington Post's Fix Picks for October 27, 2008, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is projected to defeat Republican presidential candidate John McCain 349-189 in the electoral college.

Of course, we still have a day more than a week to go before the actual election and anything can happen, but this does not look good for the McCain/Palin ticket.

What should also be mentioned is that none of us who vote are actually voting for Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin. No, we are voting to tell the member of the electoral college the candidate for whom to cast a vote. There can be a difference between the votes we actually cast aka the "popular vote" and the decision of the electoral college aka the "electoral vote".

Keep in mind that the winner of the election needs to have 270 votes in the electoral college, regardless of who wins the popular vote.
