Barbara Walter, dishes her secrets to Oprah and discusses her new book Audition: A memoir
Barbara Walters breaks decades of silences to admit affair with Senator Edward Brooke. This affair was over 25 years ago, in the 1970's. Many people are wondering why is that she is bringing this up now?
Edward Brooke was a Republican from Massachusetts; he was in office in 1967. He was the first African American to ever be popularly elected to the senate.
If the media were to make their affair public it would have tarnished both of their professional careers. At this point Barbara had already been through two divorces. Her career was on the fast tract, working with NBC and later ABC news stations.
Walters discloses this juicy part of her past during an interview with Oprah, that is scheduled to air on next Tuesday. Her personal life and career is discussed extensively in her memoir, entitled "Audition". Painful chapters in her life, include discussing her mentally challenged sister named Jackie. She passed away from a painful ovarian cancer in 1985.
Many times on her show The View, she comes across very no nonsense, and straight to the point. At times she can seem cold, complex, and wastes no time calling people out for their questionable actions. It is interesting to see her experience go to work, while she can express all these undertones in one short three minute segment in an interview.
Her book Audition: A Memoir is being released in stores May 6th. This book is an excellent way to sneak a peek into the mind of Mrs. Walters, and see what makes her tick.
