Be Careful What You Write, it Could Cost a Life
posted November 6, 2009 - 1:16pmI wrote this article after reading an another article where a person gave extremely dangerous advice to women experiencing domestic violence.
Although I understand when people on the internet write an article on domestuic violence they are just trying to help, we must understand it is a very serious issue, and many have died because of domestic violence. It is a very misunderstood, complicated issue, and those not qualified to, should not be giving advice.
The most dangerous time for a woman experiencing domestic violence is when she tries to leave, The abuser's anger becomes heightened when he goes in to a fear mode. He experiences this fear at the possible loss of the one he supposedly loves, as well as the fear of loss of control over the woman, as well as the situation. Therefore, a woman must have a safety plan intact, with someone she trusts, hopefully a qualified counselor, in order to leave the situation safely, without the abuser's knowledge of what's going on.

*ALWAYS consider when reading an article, the source and educational background of the person writing ithe article. So many people who are desperate will take any advice at all, and it could be harmful to them, as well as to others!
