"Beauty is Flawed" is the title of this photograph I came across on DeviantArt (one of my favorite sites on the internet).

I was torn as to the use of this title by the photographer. I personally saw no flaws whatsoever in the beauty of this girl.

In the artists comments I read "airbrushing is for losers
when you wear freckles like stars." I thought perhaps a more appropriate title would have been (using the artists own words), "Beauty is Wearing Freckles Like Stars." However, after pondering the choice of "Beauty is Flawed" I realized that the artist may not have meant the beauty of the subject that is flawed, but the societal norms of beauty or the current archetype of beauty thrust upon us in the media. This is where beauty is flawed, not in the eyes or the asymmetry of the freckles on the lovely face in this photo.

Whatever the photographer's intent was, the result was a vibrant photo of a beautiful subject.

As I understood the artist's profile on DeviantArt, she is a teenager (fifteen going on sixteen) from Australia. Incredible talent and intelligence from such a young artist. I expect that the world will see more great things from her in the future.
