Because of Love…

posted March 21, 2007 - 3:57pm
Because of Love…

I stirred out of a drop and a dot, because of Love…

I grew up touching and chewing everything, because of Love…

I cried when mom was gone, because of Love…

I was a ball of joy when Dad was home, because of Love…< p>

I started to read, good and bad and everything in between, because of Love…

I started to squint at the Sun and marvel at the Moon, because of Love…

I left the city where I was born, because of Love…

I rode on buses, ships and planes, been ‘round and ‘round, because of Love…

I had flats, apartments and brick homes, because of Love…

I looked at women and wrote them poems, because of Love…

I learned Calculus and spent hours on Prime Numbers, because of Love…

I played guitar flute violin and a blade of fresh grass, because of Love…

I watched movies with gangsters, kings and fairies, because of Love…

I learned a lot and forgot even more, because of Love…

I got angry shouted at people, then all the regret, because of Love…

I got hot and nasty, then mild, charming and sweet, because of Love…

I was healthy and loved to run and gorge on oxygen, because of Love…

I was sick and watched the white walls and nurses in white, because of Love…

I wrote words to heal, words of courage and words to honor, because of Love…

I held my tongue and my hands and my eyes, because of Love…

I looked at my neighbors and friends and cried for their woes, because of Love…

I visited many churches synagogues and mosques, because of Love…

I found peace and mercy where I looked for hate, because of Love…

I shortchanged my self but put a smile on a face, because of Love…

I got weak and sick knowing it was my time, because of Love…

I died and six people cried, one had a heart attack, because of Love…

Then I felt the fragrance, the touch on my shoulder, because of Love…

I turned and saw myself as a rose in a fire, because of Love…

Then I got it!

Life is a game to see who’ll burn, churn and be gone first in Love…

Could'a, Should'a, Would'a....

but really just didn't...huh? I know what you mean. I hope you'll share more of them here then. I love poetry, and always wished it would come to me as easily as it seems to come to some people. There are several other talented poets here on Xomba, Jamespoet, IDIDJERADOO, and several others. They don't post as often as I would like for them to, but then I don't have much room to complain about them with no more often than I post. My life is so hurried lately that I don't have time to write as much as I would like, but I still like to come here and read and comment. If I already had things written though, I would share them here. So I hope you will share some of those poems with us... Lady:P

Thanks Lady:P !

I appreciate your kind words. I actually have close to 60 "not-too-bad" poems that sometime in the past I considered publishing as a book but could never get around to doing it... Be well.

A rose of a different color...

Oh, well that's lovely too :) Lady:P

A thing called love!

I loved this too! You should write poetry more often. :) And what a lovely climbing rose. Is that your mother's arbor or yours? It's beautiful...Thanks for sharing :) Lady:P

Yes, I'm the author...

Thanks for your kind words, Dragonfly. Yes I do write poems now and then but they are nowhere near the magic that a true poet like Billy Collins can whip up... This one, believe it or not, was written this afternoon within just a few minutes... the whole thing practically fell on my head in one whole piece! When that happens, when you hear that "inner music," it is so liberating and so delicious. I hope this little poem of mine will bring some light, some love and a little bit of kindness to all our lives.

Because of love....

Karbon, Did you write this? It's amazing. You are a multi-talented writer. Dragonfly Xomba Moderator
