Because of You

Because of You

"Because of you, I got a ticket for driving on the shoulder, excessive speed and no current proof of insurance. Why is it because of you? Let me tell you why.

If you were driving, then my anger and impatience wouldn't have been in control. I wouldn't have driven on the shoulder of the freeway at 85mph to pass those cars that were driving too slow.

If you had reminded me to put the proof of insurance in the vehicle after you gave it to me, I wouldn't have gotten a ticket for not having it. I got that ticket because of you. In fact, all the tickets I have gotten are because of you.

I don't have patience, you know that, I hate traffic, and you know that too. Yet knowing this, you refuse to help me by driving for me, driving a vehicle that you are not comfortable with and are nervous driving. You claim I tell you how to drive which makes you even more nervous. What a stupid excuse to sit back and do nothing. I keep telling you, if you would just drive like a normal person instead of a sheep following the herd, I wouldn't have to tell you how to drive."

Does this sound familiar to anyone, maybe not this exact scenario, but being blamed for another's distress and consequences of their behavior. This is the type of attitude (maybe not as dramatic) that more and more people are assuming. "It's not my fault" is the cry, whether it pertains to the economic crisis, government actions, or consequences of our own actions - "It's not my fault!" This proclamation can also be interpreted, as "I don't want to help." It is the definition of the "entitled society".

Yes, there are some things that are out of our individual control, but with the attitude of "It's not my fault!" for the sum of the whole of life, do you really believe things will improve?

Yelling and screaming at another or about others' is not going to lead to improvement: Take a breath, two or three if needed, and ask yourself, "What can I do to make things more manageable?" Don't expect others to do it for you. Step up to plate and start being the person you are telling others to be.

Because of you

very good

Very good read I liked the way you put it all into words what a lot of us wants to tell someone who plays the blame game and it's never their fault. +1
