Ahh..LOL, :-))

Idlewild, Now it makes sense..! Yes, we all wish China a Happy, Happy, Cheer, Cheer. With NO RAIN!

Whoops... missing word in rain-control comment...

My comment was supposed to say "keep it FROM raining" but I forgot the 'from.' And for some reason I can't go back and edit my comment. Yes, the Chinese want dry weather only for the world's athletes, party dignitaries, and happy happy cheer cheer teams! (For those that have no idea what I'm talking about, see: "How Do You Say "Rah Rah, Sis Boom Bah!" in Mandarin?" http://www.xomba.com/how_do_you_say_rah_rah_sis_boom_bah_in_mandarin )

I can't understand

why anybody would want *Rain* in an opening ceremony, unless it was a special effects or something for a particular item? BTW, doesn't Dubai already have and use this technology of producing artificial rain? I thought I heard about it somewhere? Yes, Here is the link: See the pictures, Awesome. Imagine what else you can do? http://organise4u.blogspot.com/2008/06/artificial-rain-in-dubai.html http://www.altafsayani.com/2008/07/07/artificial-rain-in-dubai/

Happy happy cheer cheer no rain!

I guess they don't want any rain falling on their troops of trained cheerleaders waving their happy happy balloons.

Weather control

has been on every country's wish list for a while. Imagine how much havoc can be wrought without firing a single shot. Maybe the chinese know something we don't.

Can Beijing change the weather?

I've heard the Chinese have plans to drop some kind of crystals or something into the clouds to keep it raining on the opening ceremonies. That sounds a tad too control-freak crazy to me.
