Being Fit good also for the brain

A report from the Associated Press showed that keeping fit is healthy for the brain. Although the study can’t prove that physical fitness can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease it does show however that getting a lot of exercise may help slow brain shrinkage in people with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Based on the results of the preliminary study, it found that participants who were more physically fit had less brain shrinkage as compared to those who are less fit participants.

Dr. Jefrey Burns, one of the author of the study said that they are currently starting out in exploring whether exercise and physical fitness can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s since the preliminary study cant prove and effect. As noted the participants were evaluated once instead of continues assessment.

It is also noted that the brain shrinks with normal aging, but obviously the rate is doubled in people with Alzheimer’s disease.

The study results will somehow give us more reason to do physical exercises since it does not only contribute and advantage or benefits to the physical health but to the mental health as well.
