Belief in yourself is belief in God is faith.
posted October 27, 2009 - 9:18amI was listening to the gospel reading in church Sunday. The passage was about a blind man who received his sight after meeting Jesus. What stuck in my mind was the fact that Jesus said "Your faith has healed you." Not Jesus, not God but the man's faith. Does that mean we all have the means to do what was done to the blind man? Do we all have the power to heal if we have faith? Is having faith what it means to know God? To be God? People of whatvever religion even those without a religion, so long as they truly believe can accomplish miracles. That was my take on the gospel reading.
It isn't really so far fetched. I truly believe that Jesus was put here on earth to take us to the next level. To show us that God was within all of us. Is all of us. We are one with God and the universe and everything. It all ties together. By truly believing in God, which is also believing in youself, you come closer to the universe and everything in it. It is all a part of you. You can heal. You can do seemingly miraclous things. It is all a matter of faith.
Manny things shake that faith and that can be a distraction. This is why so many people can not find true faith in themselves or God. You have to believe. You belong here. So does your neighbor. So does everyone you meet. Remember this. We are all part of God. We are God. He/She /Us want it that way. We have to believe.

If you're talking about Luke
If you're talking about Luke 18:35? The blind man asked the crowd what was going on and the crowd responded that Jesus was passing by. Because the blind man knew Jesus to be the Son of God, he was healed by his belief that Jesus was the Savior of the world. He was saved by his belief of his relation to the Son of God, not that he himself had the power of the Son of God or like God. It's faith that we're all sinful, ill, and hopless without Jesus. The blind man's faith was not in himself. His faith was that he knew it not to be the will of God that we are in sin and sick. The will of God is for all creation to be united with Him and be perfected in faith.
We do not have the means of doing this on our own. The way of the cross is death and resurrection. There is something like a paradox here, something that can not be fully be understood and defies logic. It was all faith in the Savior and absolutely no faith in himself. The Bible says if we ask, our prayers are answered. It's not saying we can answer our own prayers. It's saying that out of our emptness and disability to save ourselves that we are saved.
