The best father and son camp out.

The best father and son camp out.

My two boys and I recently camped out in our backyard. It was a wonderful time. First we cooked hotdogs and toasted marshmallows over a fire. We played Uno and Questions. We drew pictures. We made shadow puppets with a flashlight. We took turns telling ghost stories. The best part however was when my six year old asked me, "Dad, why do we have things like tents and trees and things like that, when out there, you know the moon and Jupiter and planets and everthing, they have nothing. Why is that?" I told him people, both older and wiser, have been trying to answer that question for a long time. I told him that I was proud he could think of such things and ask a question like that. Wouldn't any parent? It is moments like this that make parenting so worhtwhile. To know a light has turned on in your child's head.
