Best Tasting Beer Review: Saison Dupont
posted February 23, 2010 - 11:10pm
Saison Dupont is an exceptionally fine Belgian ale that is, quite possibly, the best beer in the world.
Saison
Saison is the name given to pale ales brewed in Wallonia, a French-speaking region in Belgium. Saisons are available both filtered and unfiltered, and are produced at less than a dozen breweries.
Saison Dupont
This specific saison is produced at a brewery that is also a working farm in Wallonia. The makers have perfected the art of making saisons.
Saison Dupont has a tingly feel on the tongue that rivals that of champagne. It is light, bright, and has an aroma and taste of the flavorful yeast and fruity hops used to make it. Citrus and slight bitterness from the hops leave the mouth wanting more.
Foret
The same people make Foret, which is unfiltered and organic. Slightly darker than the saison, Foret has a maltyer and spicier aroma and taste.
Where to Find
Ask for Saison Dupont or Foret at finer restaurants. The Cafe Provence in Brandon, Vermont, offers both of these excpetional beers year round.
They can also be found in co-ops with good beer sections, and some gourmet grocery stores. Middlebury Natural Food Co-op in Middlebury, Vermont does a good job of keeping these and other interesting brews in stock.
It is easy to order Belgium ales online from a variety of sources, so if using this method of shopping do some research to find the best price and shipping charges.
