Bhumika Chawla, born 21 August 1978 was raised in Delhi until she moved to Mumbai in 1997 to start her career with ad films and Hindi music video albums.

Bhumika started off her film career in the Tollywood film industry, starring in the feature film Yuvakudu (2000) in Telugu alongside actor Sumanth and following it was her debut in Tamil with Badri (2001), opposite Vijay was a box office success followed by several films on both the industries.

Bhumika finally tasting success after a number of critically and commercially successful films down south starred in her first Bollywood film, Tere Naam (2003), alongside Salman Khan. The film was one of the year's highest grossing films and fared moderately well at the box office. Apart from it, it was a critical success and her performance in the film won her many positive notices as well as several nominations for Best Debut at different award ceremonies. She was nominated for her first Filmfare Best Actress Award, and won the Best Debut trophy at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony.

Bhumika still does films down south and her recent tamil hit was 'Sillunu Oru Kaadhal' before her marriage with her Yoga Master Bharat Thakur on October 21 2007. She still rocks Tollywood with her glamourous performance packed roles in 'Anasuya' and 'Swagatham'. The actress still being busy down south refused to confess her intimacy with her newly wed husband but later announced that she will be directing a movie once she is ready with a good script.
