Big Risks, Big Rewards in Movie Stars Breaking Type

1.Anne Hathaway is doing it. Charlize Theron got an Oscar for it. Surely Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger will be getting lots more attention with their attempt at it.
Breaking type - when an actor has been successful in establishing an image, then feels confined by that image, and takes the risk of accepting a character that runs counter to public expectations, and likes.
